What started out as a very quiet rally for Senator Bernie Sanders outside of the Brooklyn Navy Yard—just hours before tonight’s Democratic Debate with Secretary Hillary Clinton—soon swelled and overwhelmed what was a mostly pro-Hillary crowd.
Supporters of Hillary Clinton were in a celebratory mood shouting various cheers like, “I’M WITH HER!” and “MADAME PRESIDENT!” that was until hundreds of Verizon union workers (who are currently in the midst of negotiations with the telecommunications giant) marched down towards the gathering.
Within minutes, the red shirt wearing union workers joined the small number of Bernie Sanders supporters and took over the rally at the entrance to the Navy Yard.
It quickly became intense but at least on the streets the winner was Bernie Sanders.
